I'd love to say I miss the white Christmas and the snow. I kind of do. But over the years, I have come to fall in love with awaiting December as the month of running along the beach, trying to catch as many waves as possible, bone fires with the smell of burning marshmallows, laughter over the last slice of pavlova... anything that personifies summer in your eyes? That is what I have come to fall in love with. 

And when it comes to the holiday season, nothing is more important than knowing how to spend quality time with the people you care about. And nothing breaks the ice during those Christmas lunch and dinners that something interesting to talk about. Like, say, wood watches??

We went during the early afternoon, trying to catch the early moments of the sunset. 

It was windy, there were light waves and it was perfect. 

I think my Frankie watch might agree.

I can't say that this is just a watch. It can never be just that, because it already carries so many memories with it. Maybe it's the idea behind it being a gift for my mum or my sister, or the fact that it is so beautiful and detailed that the craftsmanship behind it is too great for words.

Or, it could be the fact that a small wooden item, has created a day full of questions, laughter, adventures, edge of the cliff moments of fear, but over all, an unforgettable first day of summer.

We, kiwi's, might wear flip flops even during winter, but when the first day of December rolls around, it's all about the waves, the melting ice cream, the freezing iced teas, and just "relaxing" with the people that mean the most to us.
